The city-state of Singapore is a miniature model of Asia.

A small country with an ultrahigh concentration of technological advances, money, ancient prejudices and cultures. The culture of the country is nothing like an alloy of Chinese, Indian and Malay cultures. But this, in short. And if you look at the trip more broadly, it should be noted that although this country is small, it is impossible to see it in 3 days or 2 weeks, if you do not know what to look for, where to go, where to shop, to have fun and relax. So, Singapore leaves no one indifferent. However, Singapore is not suitable for those who love beach vacations; you can’t call these waters “crystal clear”. And this despite the fact that Singapore is one of the greenest cities in the world, but the definition of a city of glass and concrete for Singapore is also very appropriate. Basically, tourists come here who have already visited many exotic countries – in search of something “new”, as well as a large number of businessmen – at business exhibitions. And Singapore is a mecca for shoppers, albeit very expensive. Despite the truly fantastic abundance of goods in markets and stores, local prices are only slightly inferior to Japanese prices. The best purchases are made in Singapore on the famous Orchard Road and in the suburbs.

The country’s capital city is Singapore – located in the lowlands of the Kalang and Singapore rivers on the south coast and adjacent small islands. The picturesque Singapore River splits the city into two parts. The city itself is divided into three ethnic districts: Chinatown, Little India and Arab Street (Kampong glam). Chinatown in Singapore – these are old buildings, ancient beliefs and sharp contrasts. In the business center of the district there are side-by-side houses of the beginning of the century and modern supermarkets. Little India includes spices, flowers and many shops selling Indian souvenirs. Arab Street is the business and cultural center of the city. Silk and velvet scarves, natural oils and perfumes are sold in local stores, and food stalls offer all kinds of Arabic dishes.

Singapore Airlines makes four flights a week on the Moscow-Singapore route (about 10 hours) and three flights a week on the Moscow-Dubai-Singapore route (14 hours in the air).

You can also take regular flights from Emirates Airlines (daily, via Dubai), Qatar Airways (three times a week, via Doha), Thai Airways (three times a week, via Bangkok), Etihad Airways (three times a week, via Abu Dhabi) .

You can still fly through Frankfurt (Lufthansa plus Singapore Airlines), Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam Airlines), Seoul (Korean Airlines), Shanghai (China Eastern) or Tokyo (Japan Airlines).

Visa to Singapore
From December 1, 2009 Visa applications and all necessary documents are accepted only electronically at companies accredited by the Singapore Embassy.

Russian citizens have the right to stay in Singapore without a visa for no more than 96 hours if there are tickets with a fixed departure date and visa (if required) to the country of destination, as well as sufficient financial means to stay in the country or confirm hotel reservation for the entire stay in Singapore .

Singapore Customs
The import of drugs, psychotropic drugs, firecrackers, lighters in the form of weapons, toy coins and paper banknotes, pornographic literature and video tapes, meat and meat products is prohibited. For the export of weapons, explosives, animals, poisons, medicines, precious stones and jewelry (in quantities exceeding personal needs), a permit is required. Passengers departing on an international flight are subject to an aerodrome charge of US $ 12 (US $). The fee is not charged for passengers who do not leave the transit zone, and children under the age of 2 years. A vaccination certificate is not required.

Transportation in Singapore
Singapore has a well-functioning transport system that even many European cities can envy. There are metro, express railways, lightweight railways, fixed-route taxis, buses and trolleybuses.

Buses are inexpensive (from 0.6 SGD), double-decker and comfortable. You can buy an electronic travel card or pay for the fare with the driver by throwing coins in the box next to him. They don’t give change on buses, so you need to pick up the exact amount you need with a trifle. By purchasing a Singapore Explorer card, you can ride buses as much as you like.

City trolleybuses connect the main hotels and tourist attractions.

In some places in Singapore you can find a rickshaw, you should agree on a price with them before landing. Today, a rickshaw is more of an attraction than a means of transportation, so it will cost more than a taxi. More than 18 thousand air-conditioned taxis from four companies travel around the city: they differ in color, but not in price.
